The house is on a long, narrow plot with neighbours’ houses close up on either side, and sea views at a premium. The house was designed as a long bar, the upper floor being broken up into two aligned main bedrooms, separated by a terrace, to reduce the scale. The ground-level living areas are arranged in a concentric square around the square vaulted dining room at the sea-facing end of the barred plan.
The house opens up to the sides by means of a mirrored pair of heavy, tilt-up doors , which are wire-stayed and counterbalanced. The rear ground-floor rooms gain sea-views by angled, slotted window openings in the mass stone walls.
