Updated Edwardian, Clifton

Location: Clifton
Status: Built
Year: 2007

This large family home overlooking the Atlantic, done in the idiom of a Colonial-era coastal holiday-house, serves as a backdrop to an extensive collection of major South African art. This required substantial wall space, which had to be incorporated without compromising the extensive views to the sea and the Apostles. Composed with classic proportions and symmetries best suited to the needs of this collection and the style of furnishing envisaged by the client, the house remains contemporary and functionally modern.
